The Japanese have a island that located just one kilometre off the coast of Hiroshima has been put up for sale.
The Northern Mitsuko Island was formerly the site of a naval hospital, but it has lain abandoned since the end of WWII. It's home to plenty of weeds and trees and encompasses a space of 7,600 square metres.
The property is owned by the Japanese government and is being sold by The Chugoku Local Finance Bureau. The sale is part of a government initiative to capitalise on any unused assets and they will be holding a tender for the island in February. This one is made extra special because it is the first of its kind in Japan.
