During the eight-day-holiday,I attended the photo shoot for the JNY Teacher Makeovers with stylist Lloyd Boston. There’s nothing I love better than a makeover, unless it’s a makeover for a worthy cause and my favorite stylist, Lloyd Boston is involved. I was invited last week for a behind the scenes peek of the photo shoot for Back to School-Back to Style contest. The program, sponsored by Jones of New York, Macy’s and Adopt-a- Classroom, recognizes teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty. Each of the seven grand prize winners was flown to NYC for a makeover, a new wardrobe, courtesy of Jones of New York, and a photo shoot. Their schools, along with those of 14 finalists, receive donations of school supplies and other improvements courtesy of Adopt-a-Classroom. It was so fun to watch Lloyd walk each of the ladies through her new Jones of New York wardrobe. He gave each tips on how to create stylish and unexpected outfits, including what shoes, belts and jewelry to wear with each. The favorite piece of advice I learned from Lloyd: Spice up a conservative outfit by wearing colorful, metallic or animal print flats. I'll definitely try that this fall.

The sleek illustration is by Sujean Rim; it's not often one finds a t-shirt that's cute and stylish, yet sophisticated enough that a woman over 30 years old can wear it without looking like she raided her younger sister's closet.
